Dreams Come True At NPR
By Dean’s Intern Ryan Schuette at NPR
Shortly before applying to American University, I decided I wanted one professional experience: to work in some capacity with National Public Radio. I’ve been a listener for years and have in the past also been a donor. I applied once before, in the spring, and didn’t receive it. Upon graduating in August, I applied again but booked a flight to the Caribbean with a friend, thinking it probably wouldn’t happen.
And then it did. I’ve been a reporting intern with NPR’s education desk since early October, and the experience has been extraordinary.
